Sara Rosett is a native of Texas that grew up reading books and dreaming of eventually writing them. Before achieving literary success, the author’s articles and essays could be found in mediums like Romantic Times Book Review and Chicken Soup for the Military Wife’s Soul. Sara’s life has always been an adventurous one; this is partly because she is a military spouse and, as such, she has always traveled, both locally and internationally.

In fact, Sara’s life as a military spouse has impacted her literary career, inspiring her to write suspense novels revolving around the lives of protagonists with spouses in the military. Sara has admitted that she loves to write about murder and mayhem, especially while she is traversing the country.

Deceptive: Zoe Hunter lives in the moment. The Freelancer believes in keeping her options open, which is why she is apprehensive when her ex shows up and actually tries to reboot their relationship.

Zoe has no intention of dealing with a second crash and burn. But she is forced to shelf the issue when a client of hers dies. After snooping around, it occurs to Zoe that the client’s murder might be connected to a missing Monet painting.

Even worse, someone is working really hard to set her up for both the murder and the stolen painting. Zoe must clear her name the only way she knows how by plunging into the shady world of black market art sales.

Working alongside a retired FBI Agent, a former goth girl hacker, and a persistent reporter, Zoe’s task is hardly impossible, though the involvement of her ex introduces more complications than she can contend with at the moment.

What makes this book amazing is the fact that you can read it without any knowledge of the two books that came before and still enjoy it. In fact, this book is a good way to enter Sara Rosett’s bibliography.

The novel will convince you to give the previous books a chance; the story is very fast paced and the plot keeps developing at a rate that will keep you reading for far longer than might be healthy.

The romance between Zoe and Jack never gets tiresome; the couple is just smart, sassy and sexy enough to make all the romantic detours of the story worth it. Zoe is competent as a protagonist but not so ridiculously skillful that it compromises the stakes of the story.

If you are looking for a mystery with a little bit of romance, this is the book for you.

Devious: Zoe Andrews thought that her free-spirited personality would clash with her new situation. Surprisingly, though, she quickly settles into marriage life. A company that recovers lost items for elite clients seems to Zoe like the cap on her great life when they offer her an employment opportunity.

However, her first assignment to recover a stolen painting in Edinburgh becomes rapidly complicated. Zoe cannot quite figure out why someone would steal a seemingly insignificant painting. Her search leads Zoe to the Baroque grandeur of Salzburg where she encounters an old mystery.

The reviews of this book are interesting. People don’t really have anything bad to say about it. Readers are treated to a fun and exciting treasure hunt that gets a little convoluted but avoids egregious plot holes. However, some people have complained that the book feels shallow and doesn’t make any progress, at least with regards to the lives of the characters involved.

Death in the English Countryside: Kate Sharp has a fun job as a location scout. She’s also a huge fan of the classic Jane Austen novels so imagine her feelings when her company gets the chance to find a location for a big screen adaptation of Austen’s classic novel Pride & Prejudice. Her boss heads over to England first, but when her boss doesn’t return it’s up to Kate to head over and get the job done, as well as find out what the deal is with her boss.

The countryside is beautiful and picturesque, but with no signs of her boss and the locals not helping much she begins to suspect that there may be more than meets the eye to this lazy cottage town. With an antsy director breathing down her neck to find the location and her boss missing, Kate has a full plate in this cozy mystery.

This is a great read with plenty of twists and turns that wraps up nicely while still leaving room for sequels. The setting descriptions are great and it’s fun to read about what it might be like to work as a location scout. A great start to this series. Sara Rossett manages to keep her books interesting and complex without relying on sex or violence like so many other books these days. She relies on plot to tell the story and the plot does one heck of a job of keeping you hooked from beginning to end.

When Does The Next Sara Rosett book come out?

Sara Rosett doesn't seem to have an upcoming book. Their newest book is Murder Among the Pyramids and was released on October, 1st 2024. It is the newest book in the 1920s Lady Traveler in Egypt Series.
