Best Nicola Yoon Books

Everything Everything: This is one of the best performing books by Nicola Yoon. This novel is about a young girl who has been suffering from SCID. For more than 18 years, Madeline has been trapped indoors. This is mainly because the air outside her home is full of allergens, viruses, deadly air particles and allergens. All these things, Madeline’s immune system cannot handle. The only people that Madeline comes in contact with is her mother and her nurse, Carla. Whenever anyone wanted to visit her, they would have to undergo a thorough physical examination and more than an hour within a decontamination block. For a teenage girl who has never felt the sunshine on her skin or had her bare feet on grass, Madeline is grounded. Instead of fresh air, Madeline constantly inhales novels and also has tutor online.

The possibilities of loss and love are not an option for Madeline. She has never experienced the heart-opening adrenaline rush of newly found intimacy and connection. Furthermore, she has never experienced the agony of rejection and heartbreak. However, when Olly moves next door, things begin to change for her. From what she could summarize, Olly loves to spend the most of the day on their roof or shielding his younger sister and mother from their alcoholic father. After many days of primeval window communication, i.e., smiles, elaborate skit, and nods, they exchange email addresses, and their twenty-first-century courtship begins.

There are several hours of instant messaging and in boxes full of emails. One day, Carla sets up a post-Olly checkup. For a person who has never been in a relationship before, Madeline manages to play it extremely cool. For some unknown reason, she has the discipline to wait for several days before checking her mail; This is a feat that only an exceedingly mature adult would be able to accomplish. However, when she sees Olly’s father in an extremely drunk and violent state, she just cannot help it. Determined to protect Olly, Madeline runs one day to their front door. Carla is immediately fired. Within very few days, Madeline had taken one of the biggest risks of her life.

With that said, Madeline is an exceedingly sweet character and exceedingly diverse. She is a combination of African American and Asian descent. Furthermore, she also has a kind heart. Apart from Madeline, the author introduces the reader to Olly, the lovable boy next door. He is a character, whom you are going to love. The Sun is a Star is also another great read from the author. In this book, the author introduces us to one, Natasha Kingsley. On one perfect day, Natasha together with her entire family is almost being deported back to Jamaica. However, Natasha decides to take a rather long shot and visit the USCIS with the aim of convincing someone to let her remain in the United States. Natasha is exceedingly desperate to stay and remain with her longtime friends, her livelihood, and home.

Irrespective of being optimistic, Natasha does not believe in miracles or fairy tales. However, Natasha is hoping for only one thing; her future to remain intact. You can feel Natasha’s pain in the book. Moving away has never been easy, however, when your word does not mean anything, this is the world that is full of sorrow that the author carefully transcribes. To make the story flow easily, the author uses a switching narrative. The second narrator in the novel is an aspiring poet, Daniel Jae Bae, who loves to write in his notebook. Irrespective of the fact that he has never experienced heartbreak, most of the poems that he writes about are poems about heartbreaks. Because of his upcoming interview at Yale University, Daniel Bae’s parents have allowed him to stay away from school. However, staying back home, a place where his mother loves to bombard him with lots of questions is not a great option for him. Thus on his final day as a child, he decides to head out and luckily he meets Natasha.
