The Isaac Bell book series is founded upon a detective working with the Van Dorn detective agency. He is described as a tall, blonde haired and lean detective who did not entertain non-sense, but thrives for justice. He is an American by birth and by origin. Isaac is a hero, who regularly and widely travels in the early twentieth century pursuing state criminal, killers and thieves. The book’s setting very much describes the time-setting, including even technologies of the time like telegraphs and dreadnought battleships.
In the series, he is an electrifying master of adventure and a thriller, all in one. This books keeps a reader at the edge of their seat, hence each series makes it to the bestselling title. The book series is based on the real life story of the Pinkerton Detective Agency.
Isaac bell, though a serious man, has a softer more approachable side, and he has a family, which he respects. His father, Ebenezer Bell, and his grandfather Isaiah Bell are both bankers in Boston and are very prominent. In the book series, “The Thief, 2012” Isaac Bell gets married to a lovely lady, Marion Morgan, who is a filmmaker. Even though “The Striker, 2013” was written much later, its scene describes the earliest setting of Isaac Bell, in 1902.
The first book in the Isaac Bell series is The Chase, which was released in 2007. While the book itself serves as an introduction to the character of Isaac Bell, we are not introduced to him immediately. Instead, the story begins in 1950, 44 years after the setting of the main story of the book. In a lake in 1950, an old steam locomotive emerges, revealing its secrets, which include the corpses of three men. We then are whisked back to 1906, where the main part of the story takes place, and where we are properly introduced to Issac Bell. Our hero is hired by the United States Government to catch the man known as the Butcher Bandit, a criminal who commits bank robberies, and then mercilessly kills any witness to his crime. However, catching the Butcher Bandit is not as easy as Bell had hoped, and as he is drawn all across the country, it becomes clear to Bell that the Butcher Bandit is not running from him, but is now stalking him, hoping to make the detective his next victim. Bell must use all of his cunning to avoid becoming the Butcher Bandit’s next victim, and also bringing him to justice.
Two years after the publication of The Chase, Clive Cussler followed this up with the release of The Wrecker, which was co-authored by American author Justin Scott. The Wrecker is set one year after the events of The Chase, in 1907. The storyline revolves around the Southern Pacific Railway, and the building of a route through the Cascade Mountains, which is being sabotaged by a man simply known as The Wrecker. The Wrecker is destroying parts of the track by blowing them up, or having hobos whom he has hired to rip up the rails, sabotages the power supplies and also by trapping workers in tunnels due to them collapsing, eventually killing them. To try and stop The Wrecker, Joseph Van Dorn, the owner of the Southern Pacific Railway, turns to our hero, Isaac Bell, to try and stop The Wrecker before he can do any more damage or claim any more lives.
Clive Cussler and Justin Scott again teamed up to co-author the third book in the Isaac Bell series, The Spy, which was released in 2010, and then the fourth book, The Race, which was released in 2011. The fifth book in the series, The Thief, was released in 2012, and again, was co-authored by Cussler and Scott, and then the sixth book, The Striker, was released in 2013. In 2014, The Bootlegger was released, and then The Assassin was released in 2015, both co-authored by Cussler and Scott.
Best Isaac Bell Books:

Clive Cussler books are always a good read, but when he delves into historical fiction he enters must-read territory. In no series is this better personified than the Isaac Bell books. These books are page turners, but they also give you some insight into the politics of the time and the building of early New York. I love the crime fighting techniques of the day in a less sophisticated society and all the history, but it’s the fast paced stories that keeps me coming back.
