Jayne Ann Krentz is an American author who is widely known for her romance novels, many of which made it to the best sellers list of New York Times on several occasions. Apart from using her real names, Jayne Ann Krentz also uses her pen name, Amanda Quick to write down historical romances as well. Jayne Ann Krentz maiden name is mainly used for her futuristic romance and paranormal suspense novels. Born 28 March 1948, Jayne Ann Krentz was raised in Kobb, California. Brought up alongside her two brothers in Borrego Spring Area by their mother, Krentz spent more than a decade in the Borrego Springs Area. Later on, Krentz began her education, which eventually turned her into the writer she is today. Jayne Ann Krentz was admitted to the academic powerhouse, the University of California where she was awarded a bachelor’s degree in history.

After being awarded a bachelor’s degree in History, Jayne Ann Krentz still went ahead and applied for a degree in the field of Library Sciences from the University of San Jose State. The main reason why she opted for an additional degree in Library Sciences is that she believed the degree was going to prepare her for her future career. As it eventually turned out, Jayne Ann Krentz fancied being a librarian and not the teaching side of the field. Currently, Jayne Ann Krentz lives with one Frank Krentz, who is an engineer by profession. Jayne Ann Krentz got married to Frank Krentz after the two met at San Jose State University. After a brief stint at Duke University, where she was in charge of the school’s library, Jayne and her husband had to move on. Now, the two live together in Seattle, where Jayne Ann Krentz continues to pen down more books. For more than six years, Jayne Ann Krentz would constantly submit her stories to different publishers, but she was always faced with rejection.

During her time at Duke University, Jayne Ann Krentz began combining elements of paranormal and romance together. It was until the year 1979, Jayne Ann Krentz managed to sell her first novel, the Gentle Pirate after Jayne and her husband had just relocated to Seattle so that her husband would be able to further his career aerospace. After this period, Jayne Ann Krentz operated under several pen names as she was working on her voice and tone as well. Some of the pen names that she used include Jayne Taylor, Jayne Bentley, Stephanie James and Amanda Glass. During the mid-eighties, Jayne Ann Krentz decided to work using her real names as she was progressing into the field of contemporary romance.

Later on, Jayne Ann began to introduce elements of science fiction into her books, such as Sweet Fire, which incorporated Jayne Ann Krentz trademark romance. Krentz followed this up with book such as Crystal Flame, which was published in the year 1987. During this time, Jayne Ann Krentz began using the name Amanda Quick, a name that she used to experiment with her exceedingly famous brand of historical romance. As time went by, Jayne Ann Krentz began to gain acknowledgment for her work as she managed to get commercial and critical attention. 32 of her novels have claimed the number one spot on the bestsellers list of New York Times.
