John Burdett is a best-selling British crime novelist. He famously known for Bangkok 8 and sequels Bangkok Haunts Bangkok Haunts, Vulture Peak and The Godfather of Kathmandu. John was born in London, England, the child of a London policeman. Before writing, he practiced law in Hong Kong, and as of 2007, he divided his time between Bangkok and southwestern France.

The Sonchai Jitpleecheep is a set of crime novels set in Bangkok, Thailand. The series consists of six novels which focus on a philosophical Thai Buddhist detective by the name Sonchai Jitpleecheep. The books involve the red lights districts of Bangkok and Thailand sex industry, and sexual content is part of the narrative.

The Last Six Million Seconds is a novel set in Hong Kong during the month of April and may in 1997. The novel features some horrific homicide investigation. Three decapitated heads are found floating in the garbage in the border of the water between China and Hong Kong. They match the DNA profiles found in a case of minced human flesh that had discovered in a deserted in a warehouse. The detective involved in the investigation half Irish Hong Kong half Chinese resident finds himself threatened by both the investigation and the political sides after a vicious plot involving Weapon of Mass Destruction (WMD) smuggling that could result to war between Britain and China is discovered.

Each published work of John Burdett has been an option for films. However, the multiracial characters and the exotic locations make it difficult for filmmakers to find appropriate screenplays and stars. Bangkok 8 was optioned for adaptation into a movie by the Millennium Films Company which had produced the fourth film in Rambo Series. However, the efforts of the production seem to have been canceled.

The Last Six Million Seconds- the exact time remaining for the British to hand over the Hong Kong is a worthy read from the British author, a retired attorney and a resident of Hong Kong.

Bangkok 8: This book is a razor-edged, sexy, and a darkly hilarious well-woven novel set in one of world’s top exotic cities. Witnessed by a crowd of gaping crowd, a marine sergeant is killed under a Bangkok bridge inside a car. Bangkok 8 is an excellent debut to Sonchai Jitpleecheep mysteries set in exotic places in Bangkok Thailand and also features so many interesting characters. You will love the relationship that exists between the main character and the FBI agent. It is one of the murder mysteries novels you will ever read, with the interplay between cultures, the Buddhism, American, Thai, and many others.

When Does The Next John Burdett book come out?

John Burdett doesn't seem to have an upcoming book. Their newest book is Death Effect and was released on April, 17th 2017. It is the newest book in the John Burdett Short Stories/Novellas.
