Catherine Coulter was born and brought up in Texas. She did her graduation from the famous University of Texas. After that, she did her Masters in History from Boston University. Initially, she used to work as a speechwriter in Wall Street. But after working for some time, she left her job and went on to become a full time writer. So far, she has written over 70 novels, including many bestsellers. Currently, she is living with her husband, who is a physician. She is also a cat lover and has as many as three cats in her home. She is an avid traveler, and according to her, traveling is key to her writing career.

She begun her career by writing historical novels. But then gradually she shifted to thrillers. Her “FBI Series” is very popular. She came into the limelight after her first book in the FBI series named ” The Cove”. So far, she has managed to sell around 2 million copies of that book. After that, she went on to write several other bestsellers. Among her historical novels, ” Magic Series” and ” Legacy Series” are extremely popular.

Catherine Coulter Awards:

Her impressive writing skills also earned her several awards and nominations. During 98-99, Romantic Times Magazine awarded her with Career Achievement Award for her historical novels. She was also nominated for the prestigious RRA awards in 2000. Apart from that, she regularly featured in the Bestsellers List.

Most people know of Coulter due to her FBI Thriller series so we thought we’d highlight another Catherine Coulter series which is well worth reading.

The Magic Trilogy by Catherine is one of her best series. The first two books of this trilogy are titled ” Midsummer Magic” and ” Calypso Magic”. The first book, ” Midsummer Magic”, starts with Alexander, Earl of Ruthven saving the life of the Marquess of Chandos, Charles. In order to thank him for saving his life, he offered Alexander anything he wants. He thought that Alexander would ask for money, but instead he said he wanted a husband for one of his three daughters. Charles kept his promise and sent his son, Hawk to marry one of Alexander’s three daughters.

Although, Hawk was reluctant initially, but he eventually agreed to marry Francis, one of Alexander’s daughters. Francis was slightly different from the other daughters. She preferred to stay alone. Hence, Hawk decided to marry her, so that he can continue his own life in England, without anyone bothering him. Meanwhile, after marriage Hawk was now Earl of Ruthven. But he wasn’t bothered about the estate much. However, Francis with the help of her servants worked extremely hard and managed to revive the estate. Impressed by her hard work and zeal, Hawk eventually fell in love with her.

Meanwhile, Hawk has an older sister by the name of Beatrice, who is married to another stud owner, named Edmund. Edmund was jealous of the success of Hawk and Francis, and killed Hawk’s brother. He also tried to kill Francis several times. But eventually, Edmund was forced to kill himself in the end. Catherine has managed to write the book in a very exciting and suspenseful tone, which keeps the reader engaged at all times. There are also several interesting sub plots within the story. All the characters are very interesting and you will want to know more about them.

The second book in the Magic series is Calypso Magic. The hero of this book is Lyonel, St Leven’s Earl. Because of a failed relationship before, Lyonel doesn’t trust women any longer. However, she fell in love with a women named Diana. Diana is from West Indies. Her father is a plantation owner over there. She was flawless and completely different from the other girls. Lyonel couldn’t help but fall in love with her. Diana also had an aunt, who wanted her to marry Lyonel and settle in London. Gradually, both Lyonel and Diana grew closer as they spent more time with each other. However, Diana once eavesdropped on a conversation Lyonel was having with his ex-betrothed. Angered by her eavesdropping, Lyonel decided to separate from her. Diana also wanted to return to her home in West Indies. However, Lyonel’s feeling for Diana was too strong and he agreed to come with her. The plot then twists and turns, and both of them ended up getting stranded in an island. After they were rescued, they eventually married each other.

Catherine has managed to make the characters extremely witty and easy to relate with. The pace is extremely fast. Once you start reading,it will be difficult to stop in between. The humorous dialogues and the breathtaking pace makes it a must read.

When Does The Next Catherine Coulter book come out?

Catherine Coulter doesn't seem to have an upcoming book. Their newest book is Flashpoint and was released on July, 2nd 2024. It is the newest book in the FBI Thriller Series.
