And like everyone his age, Luca wanted to go into sports, preferably finding success as a boxer or a soccer star. However, neither of those dreams was to be. Life instead drove Luca to pursue acting. He toyed with music for a while, but it was acting that eventually drew the author’s interest.

And it wasn’t like Luca Veste was simply going to sit around and wait for his dreams to come to pass. As a young man, Luca worked hard to see his goals come to fruition, spending a considerable period of time doing theater work, of which he did a ton. The author also experimented with a couple of bands as a guitarist and a singer, though these particular bands were only fortunate enough to play in pubs.

It didn’t take Luca long to realize that there was no success to be found in music and acting, though the author wasn’t so quick to ditch his dreams. Luca tried his hand at a few odd jobs in order to make ends meet, this including working in a chip shop.

Some of the author’s fans might be amused to learn that Luca actually spent three months working as a bathroom and kitchen designer, a job he knew nothing about and which eventually got him fired.

Being a sensible sort of lad, Luca eventually gave up on his music and his acting; by this time, Luca had been an extra in many Brookside and Hollyoaks episodes. The author found some stability when he became a civil servant, working at his job for six years before his wife convinced him to go back to University where he studied Criminology and Psychology.

It was during his university days that Luca began to write. He experimented with a couple of short stories before finally attempting to produce a full-length novel, a task that was immensely more difficult than the author could have imagined but which he succeeded at.

Luca Veste is best known for writing the DI Murphy and Rossi novels which are police procedurals. The author’s novels are typically of a psychological nature and they tend to revolve around the City of Liverpool. Luca has used his own experiences and the experiences of those around him to create the characters in his books.

He isn’t averse to doing research, especially when it comes to the psychological aspects of the criminals in his books.

Luca Veste Awards

When Luca was editor of Off the Record, a charity anthology, it received a Spinetingler Award nomination.

Best Luca Veste Books

Luca Veste’s decision to study psychology and criminology is the most sensible he ever made because it put him on the path to becoming a writer of police procedurals, with some of the best books from the author including:

The Dying Place: Few people mourn when Dean Hughes is found dead on the steps of a church in West Derby. Dean was a bit of a troublemaker, and its DI Murphy and DS Rossi’s job to find his killer, especially in light of all the torture marks on his corpse.

When other teenagers begin to disappear, Murphy and Rossi begin investigating the pattern. Clearly, someone is out to remove Liverpool’s young delinquents from the streets.

This Luca Veste novel begins with the death of a young man that has had difficulties with the law. Murphy and Rossi’s investigation of the murder delves into a deeper societal issue that allows readers to empathize with the victims and the perpetrators.

The dynamic relationship between Murphy and Rossi grows.

Bloodstream: Everyone wants to be Chloe Morrison and Joe Hooper. The TV stars seem to have everything, or at least they used to. When the pair is found bound to chairs and murdered in a violent manner, the media descend on Liverpool, looking to unravel the mystery of a case that begins when Chloe and Joe’s agent receives a phone call.

Murphy isn’t too keen on the case. However, his dismissive attitude is challenged when another pair of murders occurs. There’s a killer on the loose and he seems set to keep murdering unless Rossi and Murphy can stop him.

This Luca Veste novel finds Murphy and Rossi struggling to solve a complicated case in light of the glare of the media.

When Does The Next Luca Veste book come out?

Luca Veste doesn't seem to have an upcoming book. Their newest book is Trust In Me and was released on July, 20th 2023.
