After working with the CIA, Eisler served as a technological lawyer before he became a start-up executive in Silicon Valley. He then travelled to Japan, where he was awarded with a black belt in Judo. Fault Line: The first book in the Ben Treven book series. In this instalment, we meet with one Richard Hillzoy and Alex Traven his attorney, who have arranged a meeting with one Kleiner Perkins. Richard is more than excited to be meeting with Kleiner and his people as well, since Kleiner might have just created one of the best inventions in the world. Obdisdan is the name of the algorithim, which might just be one of the world’s most advanced encryption system. As soon as Alex Treven seals the deal, then Obdisdan will be a property of Riachard Hillzoy and his company. For the past few years, Alex has been working exceedingly hard to move up in the law firm that he works for. From the look of things, this might just be one of the biggest breakthrough in his career. When Richard fails to show up, Alex Traven has an exceedingly bad feeling about it.
When Alex tries to call Richard, all he gets is his voice answering machine. It does not take long before Alex gets the answer as to why Richard never showed up for their meeting. Gamez, a detective who works for the San Jose Police Department informs Alex Treven that Richard’s body was discovered just in front of his house.
Inside Out: The second book in the Ben Treven book series. In this instalment, we meet once again with Ben Traven, a trained black operations soldier, who had everything that he has ever known or believed in turned upside down. This time around Ben is asked to track a rogue operator, who has been busy sending threats to the United States government. The rogue operator threatens to reveal tapes showing American soldiers torturing civilians all in the name of war. With the assistance of Paula Lanier, an F.B.I Agent, Ben must be able to stop Larison before he releases those tapes. With that said, the story is not only well researched but it has been written in an exceedingly compelling way. The author, Barry Eisler is knowledgeable in the nuances of the American government. He also understands how the American Government would handle such a crisis. After reading this book, once can only wonder what kind of things are kept hidden from the American people.
Overall, this is an exceedingly exciting thriller and a fun story to read. It is not only fast paced, but also features lots of tactics. The plot is full of twists and turns that will keep the readers guessing, until the last page, when the truth is revealed finally. The reader is definitely going to fall in love with how Barry Eisler describes places. Barry Eisler does a wonderful job of explaining and describing these areas.
