He began his writing career in the year 1978 when he was enrolled as a junior reporter in Newport Ensign, a weekly newspaper. Parker extensively covered all types of police matters as well as the matters that involved the City Hall as well. Eventually, Jefferson Parker then shifted to the Daily Pilot, where he became the recipient of three awards for the articles that he submitted to the press club.
