KEY News is one of the premier news stations in New York City that is inspired by Jane Clark’s time working with CBS before she became an author. The novels follow a diverse set of characters as they deal with murder mysteries, amid the intrigues and politics of working for a news company.

The first novel in the series “Do You Want to Know A Secret?” starts out with the bright young woman stunned by the death of a close friend, who has in all likelihood been murdered. The murderer is now after her and is willing to kill to prevent her from ever finding out the truth. She struggles through it and nearly is killed, before the murderer goes insane and turns up dead.

The novel just gets more interesting as Eliza Blake, a young widow now finds herself in perilous circumstances as people around her start falling like flies. Bill Kendall her coworker and old friend has allegedly committed suicide. What follows is a series of suspenseful subplots that include AIDS, psychiatrists, religion, a mentally ill homeless man, a political election, and embezzlement from charities. It is a Mary Higgins Clark-esque novel, which has won the author many fans over the years.

  1. Is unputdownable a word? Because I think it should be. Unputdownable perfectly explains how I’ve felt about the KEY News series.

Eliza Blake is an awesome heroine as the host of KEY News who managed to solve crimes in addition to her reporting. The way Mary Jane Clark writes keeps the character consistent from book-to-book and each one is a page turner. This series is unputdownable and I highly recommend it.
