Julie Kenner is a bestselling and award-winning American author. She has written novels, novellas, and short stories. Her forte is erotic romance. Or at the very least, that is the genre in which she has achieved the most success.

However, Kenner is quite versatile, having dipped her toes into genres like paranormal, contemporary romance, urban fantasy, and chick-lit. Born in Mountain View in California, Kenner grew up in Texas. She attended the University of Texas at Austin from where she studied radio-television-film. Following a stint at Baylor School of Law in Waco from where she pursued her degree, the author started her career in law in Los Angeles.

She eventually migrated to Austin in Texas, though she was still deeply entrenched in the legal field. Kenner had spent her entire life nurturing her passion for storytelling. Even with her busy schedule as an attorney, she still found the time to write screenplays with her partner.

That was much easier to do when she lived in Los Angeles. Once she moved to Texas, she lost touch with her partner. This, in turn, debilitated her writing efforts, at least as far as screenplays were concerned.

It eventually occurred to the author that she needed to produce a shorter work of fiction that she could actually afford to write even with her busy schedule and which would give publishing professionals a taste of her writing abilities. She was certain that this strategy would finally open the publishing doors for her.

Her first novel was eventually published in 1997. She had spent so many years crafting stories in her head that, once they started pouring out, she couldn’t stop them. Fortunately, Julie Kenner found that she was a fast writer.

These days, the author publishes several books every single year. Kenner was very young when her interest in writing manifested. As a child, she would sit in her father’s study, using his typewriter to tell her stories.

She could barely read, so the stories she wrote were pure nonsense. None the less, it revealed the desire for storytelling that was already bubbling within the author even at that tender age.

In college, she initially studied journalism. But then she abandoned the field in favor of film. Then she replaced film with law. Kenner did not know for certain that she wanted to pursue publishing as a career, not as a young girl.

But she remembers the hours she would spend in a car and or a plane as she traversed the distance between her mother and father’s houses. She couldn’t read because of how car sick it would make her.

The only way to stave off boredom was to close her eyes and craft stories in her mind. This created the foundation for the pool of ideas that have sustained Julie Kenner’s career.

She spends a lot of time writing about fantasy and the paranormal because she loves stories that feature extraordinary concepts and ideas that are set in a world that doesn’t differ that drastically from the real one.
