Ashley Weaver is an American mystery author that works for the Allen Parish Libraries (Louisiana) as a Technical Services Coordinator. Libraries have been an important part of Weaver’s life for a long time.

The author was an avid reader when she was young. Naturally, she loved the library. Weaver adored the moments she spent walking among the shelves, browsing the books on offer, and finding some hidden gem she hadn’t yet read.

She was especially amazed by the fact that she could take books out of the library for free. Weaver was 14 when she started working at her local library. At the time, it was just an after-school job that could add a little spending money to her pocket.

She had no intention of pursuing libraries as a profession. But that is precisely what happened. She studied English and then Libraries and Information Science. The author’s work as a librarian played an important role in her publishing career.

Weaver was always surrounded by books. This created a desire in the author to see her own books on library shelves. Additionally, as a historical mystery writer, her library work made it so much easier for the writer to do her research.

The writing habit came naturally to Weaver. She was still in elementary school when she wrote her first book. Not only did she write it but she added the illustrations. She was a freshman in high school when she started writing her first full-length novel.

Weaver wrote it in installments that she read to her friends at lunch. Her love for reading and writing was responsible for the author’s decision to pursue Library and Information Science in college.

Once she finally decided to pursue a publishing career in her adult years, there was no doubt in Ashley Weaver’s mind that she would write mystery novels set in the 1930s. Weaver spent her childhood reading mysteries. She was drawn to the likes of Nancy Drew, Trixie Belden, and ‘Great Steamboat Mystery’ by Richard Scarry’s.

To the author’s young mind, mysteries were giant puzzles. Each chapter introduced a new piece of the puzzle, and you could only see the larger picture by getting to the end. This made the genre immensely fascinating to Weaver.

She took great pleasure in identifying the clues in her favorite stories and putting them together to solve the mystery at the core of each novel. As far as her interest in the early sections of the 20th Century is concerned, Weaver is convinced that she was born in the wrong era.

She spent a significant portion of her formative years watching old movies. She couldn’t get enough of the elegance of the 1930s, a period where men wore tuxedos and women had a magnificent gown for each night of the week.

Because authors are normally encouraged to write what they know, Weaver couldn’t wait to pour everything she knew about the lifestyle and fashion of the 1930s onto the page once she sat down to write the first Amory Ames Mystery novel.

The Amory Ames series began as a dream. Weaver couldn’t remember anything about the dream except for the name. It stuck with her. She thought it was a great name for a mystery novel character. Death Wears a Mask: The Brightwell Hotel mystery brought Amory and Milo closer. Amory hoped that their stay at their London flat would give them the quiet period they need to reconcile. However, Serena Barrington has a problem on her hands and she needs Amory’s help.

When Does The Next Ashley Weaver book come out?

Ashley Weaver doesn't seem to have an upcoming book. Their newest book is Locked in Pursuit and was released on May, 14th 2024. It is the newest book in the Electra McDonnell Series.
