Susan Mallery is a bestselling author from the United States that writes romance and women’s fiction. She has been praised for creating complex characters and placing them in challenging situations that mimic real life.

She has won the hearts of critics from inside and outside the US, with some going so far as to call her the Queen of Romantic Fiction. While Mallery appreciates the praise critics have thrown her way, she is more interested in the opinions of ordinary readers. She gets a lot of joy from the knowledge that her stories have moved them, making them laugh and cry, and leaving them much happier than they were before they read her novels.

A wife and the owner of several pets, Mallery was born in 1970 in Los Angeles. She attended Seton Hill University from where she acquired her MA. The author studied accounting. However, she has never worked in accounting.

While many authors meander through a multitude of careers before entering the publishing field, Mallery was fortunate enough to publish, not one, but two books the moment she left college. This encouraged her to devote her time and effort to the industry.

Her investment paid off handsomely. She went on to publish dozens of novels in the years that followed. Some of her novels have even appeared on bestseller lists. As a child, Mallery never thought that she would become a successful full-time writer. Though, she showed all the appropriate signs.

Back then, books were Mallery’s life. It took her parents quite a while to realize that it was pointless to punish the girl by sending her to her room. It just gave her an excuse to read all the books she kept in her bedroom.

Once they caught on, the author’s parents started sending her to the bathroom. But that didn’t work either because Mallery started hiding books under the sink. The author took every chance she got to disappear into her favorite fictional settings.

Mallery was 13 when she discovered romance novels. But even after sparking an obsession for the genre, she couldn’t imagine writing romantic fiction. To Mallery’s young mind, romance writers were exotic creatures that lived in France. She was too ordinary to join their ranks.

The author would have maintained this opinion if it wasn’t for a local adult education center that she stumbled across during her college years. The center had a class on writing romance novels. Mallery enrolled.

She used the skills the class taught her to write her first novel. It was a mess but it did little to deter the author who had decided by this point that she wanted to pursue a career as an author of romance. She did not expect her dreams to come true so quickly. After graduating, Mallery turned down a job offer to become an author. She has never regretted the decision.
