E. J Copperman is an American author that writes cozy mystery novels. Born in New Jersey, Copperman has written for numerous publications, including The New York Times and Entertainment Weekly.

He has worked as a reporter for newspapers, an editor for magazines, and a teacher. Copperman was reading by the age of four. He distinctly remembers ‘The Little Fish That Got Away’ because it was the first book he read on his own.

An avid fan of baseball who watches the sport religiously, the author spent two decades writing screenplays. He was relatively successful in the field. In fact, his first novel began as a screenplay, but the story refused to behave. It had other plans, and the author obliged. Once he completed the manuscript, he sold it in five days.

His first publisher was relatively small. While he doesn’t remember what he did when he saw his first book on a shelf in a bookstore, he knows how he reacted when he held a copy of his first published novel for the first time.
