Lauraine Snelling is an American author that writes Christian fiction. In the beginning, Snelling wanted to write novels about horses for young female readers, and she fulfilled that dream. But later on, she took an interest in stories with important themes like cancer, loss, and domestic violence.

That critique group changed the author’s life because the members met once a week to critique one another’s work. This placed the author on a strict deadline. She had to put something on paper every single week.

This instilled in Snelling the discipline she needed to write her first manuscript. However, she admits that finding the time and strength to sit down and write is not easy.

Even though she has written dozens of novels over the years, the author’s struggles in this area have remained largely unchanged because she has so many things to do on any given day, and they keep tempting her to abandon her manuscripts.

Snelling has to fight to remain seated long enough to write. Fortunately, she loves what she does. Even though she identifies as a Christian author, Snelling’s primary objective is to entertain.

She wants to take her readers on an exciting and emotional journey that makes them cry and laugh.
Her books have a solid Christian message, but she disagrees with Christian authors who place so much emphasis on their message that the story suffers. Snelling believes that God guides her to write words that touch her readers in ways they do not anticipate.

They squeeze inspiration from her books that the author doesn’t always intend. She takes a lot of encouragement from the messages she receives from readers, many of whom have been moved by her novels.
