Sue Henry was an American author that wrote mystery novels. Born in 1940 in Salmon, Idaho, her birth name was Mathilda Sue Hall. Sue’s mother was Lois H. Hall. Her father was Charles A Hall.

The author’s family included two brothers (Tom and John). She went to grade school and high school in Wenatchee, Wash, where the family had migrated in the late 1940s. By the late 1950s, she had graduated from Eastmont High School.
She went on to pursue an English degree from the University of Washington. Sue joined the Peace Corps (Thailand) in the years that followed. The experience brought Toby Fogg into her life. At the time of their meeting, she had no idea that he would become her lifelong friend.
Sue met Paul K Henry at the University of Washington. She had returned to study Library Science when her future husband came into the author’s life. By the time they migrated to Pasadena, Calif., two boys had joined their family.
When Sue and Paul divorced, she moved to Fairbanks in Alaska with her children. Fairbanks changed the author’s life because it instilled in her a love for the Alaskan frontier. She also discovered her passion for the written word.
The author started working for the Fairbanks Public Library. However, unlike ordinary library employees in conventional libraries, Sue spent her days driving a bookmobile all over Alaska’s roads.
A stint in the State Department of Education in Juneau revealed to sue that publishing was her dream. However, she did not pursue it, not immediately. She did not write her first novel until she planted roots in Anchorage.
The author was working for the University of Alaska’s Adult Learning Center. When she wrote ‘Murder on the Iditarod Trail,’ she had no idea that it would become the first of over a dozen books.
The book won awards, placing Sue on the map. She was so pleased by the response that she decided to make ‘Murder on the Iditarod Trail’ the first in a series. Sue realized that the characters had the potential to participate in more adventures.
Additionally, rather than sitting back and enjoying the fruits of her labor, Sue started teaching workshops, using her experience to educate others.
Sue encouraged people to experiment with the Alaska Highway. She called it the ultimate trip. The highway was a challenge when it was first introduced. But eventually, the powers that be added an asphalt surface that made it more appealing.

Sue Henry doesn't seem to have an upcoming book. Their newest book is The End of the Road and was released on October, 14th 2009. It is the newest book in the Maxie and Stretch Series.
