Lee loved Blade’s work. However, he thought that Blade was better off turning the manuscript into an original series. Lee wanted the author to create his own Reacher franchise.

Blade responded by writing the first of the Jack Widow books. ‘Gone Forever’ was an immediate hit. It jumped over competitors like ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’ to secure the top position on Amazon’s charts.

Blade came from a poor home. Born in Mississippi, the author spent his childhood in a rural country. With little else to do, he honed his imagination. That imagination came in handy when Blade wrote his first novel at the tender age of eleven.

The author was determined to pursue his publishing dreams regardless of the cost. But his life took a detour along the way. His education took priority for the next few years.

After adding three university degrees to his resume, the author joined Tulane University, New Orleans, where he taught International Law for nearly a decade. But then the first Jack Widow book came out, and Blade became a publishing sensation.

The author describes himself as a Nomadvelist, a title that combines ‘Nomad’ and ‘Novelist.’ The lifestyle was inspired by Jack Reacher, and it began as a simple experiment. But then it turned into an addiction.

Even as a child, Blade was curious about the world. He wanted to explore his country and the lands that waited beyond. And now, he does just that. But that doesn’t mean the author has abandoned his career.

Blade writes as he travels. He takes pride in the fact that he doesn’t spend his days in a dreary office like many traditional novelists.

Best Scott Blade Books

The author tries to pursue an authentic nomadic life. The only things he carries are a passport, change of clothes, toothbrush, MacBook, and a phone. Blade’s best books include:

Gone Forever: Jack Widow’s skills were best utilized abroad. Few other NCIS agents could match his talents. When things went wrong, Jack was the agent the Navy sent to investigate complex crimes.

Jack spent his career jetting from country to country, sneaking in and out of various hotspots. The last thing he expected was for his superiors to pull him from an undercover assignment.

But they had good reasons. His mother, the sheriff of a small town, was dead. Someone shot her. Jack hadn’t seen his mother in several years. Nonetheless, he took the journey home, determined to solve his mother’s murder.

Sneaking into the small town was not particularly hard. Jack looked like any other worthless drifter, which meant that he could operate unseen, working behind the scenes to uncover a horrifying secret.

Without Measure: Jack Widow was done with the Navy. The former NCIS agent was drifting through North America. He had no attachments, no burdens, no responsibilities, which should have given him peace.

But he was struggling to get a good night’s sleep in the cab of a truck. At the time, he had no idea that his decision to stop in a small town would come back to bite him.

The town was home to a marine base and a small arms manufacturer. Jack was trying to mind his business at a local diner. He wanted to drink his coffee in silence. But a marine at another booth was setting off alarm bells for Jack.

Rather than minding his business, the former cop tried to initiate a conversation with his target. But the marine refused to engage. Jack took the hint and left.

He found a motel and tried to get the sleep he sorely desired. But before his eyes could close, the military police came knocking. They had questions for Jack.

Specifically, they wanted to know what he had said to Muhammad Turik. Apparently, the officer returned to base and killed five marines after leaving the diner.

Some voices wanted to tie Turik’s actions to an Isis cell. Politicians hoped to pivot the conversation into a debate about guns. But Jack was only interested in finding the truth.
