Whitlow is a practicing attorney and a father with four children and several grandchildren. His books are designed to show readers that God is not only real, but he wants to interact with his people.

The author speaks fondly of his relationship with God and the supernatural experiences he has witnessed over the years. At one point, he wanted to pursue music because he adored worship and thought it was a glorious aspect of the Christian experience. He even played the piano as a child.

The attorney has traced his Christian faith to his family. Whitlow regrets the last two years his father spent on earth. The pair couldn’t communicate because of his father’s brain tumor.

He wishes he could have spent more time with his father. The author also wishes that his father had lived long enough to meet his grandchildren. Whitlow has praised his maternal grandmother, the family’s spiritual matriarch and a woman who proclaimed that Whitlow would become a Christian before she died.

The author’s publishing ambitions are directly tied to his Christian faith. Whitlow and his wife had two dreams (in 1994 and 1995) that hinted at his future in publishing.

Although, when Whitlow wrote his first novel, publishing was not his objective. In fact, at the time, the author had no desire to become a novelist. He remembers waking up one random day, ruminating about the influence of the past on the present, and then turning that thought into the foundation for ‘The List’ after taking a long drive.

When he came back home, he shared his ideas with his wife, and Kathy pushed him to write the book. At the time, he had no intention of publishing ‘The List.’ The author credits God for giving him the push he needed to break into the publishing arena.

Whitlow does most of his writing in the evening and on the weekends because he still practices law, and his job keeps him busy on most days. He tries to dedicate time during the week to his family.

But when he has looming deadlines, the author will give his manuscripts priority over most other demands. The stories he writes emerge from his imagination. Research is rarely a requirement, excluding the time he spends investigating the settings of each story.

Whitlow does not sweat the changes filmmakers make whenever they adapt his work because he understands that movies are a different medium and screenwriters have limited time to tell long and layered stories.

Best Robert Whitlow Books

The author writes fiction with the intention of entertaining and inspiring. Whitlow’s best books include:

The List: Renny was determined. His job was the answer to all his problems. He had seen the luxuries the partners in his Charlotte firm enjoyed. But Renny was a young attorney fresh out of law school, and it would be a while before he made it to the top.

When news of his father’s death reached him, the revelation of a secret inheritance filled him with joy. With the inheritance, he could finally achieve his full potential. But something was wrong.

The clandestine society promising the inheritance had a secret that threatened to change his destiny in unexpected ways.

Sacrifice: Scott Ellis had his work cut out for him. Lester Garrison’s life was over. The 16-year-old had opened fire on a church gathering, or so they said. Scott’s job was to defend the young man against the accusation.

Meanwhile, the local high school where Scott volunteered was at a crossroads. Catawba looked like an ordinary establishment. But in truth, it stood at the heart of a battle between good and evil.

The students and their janitor had chosen to trust in faith and prayer. But their enemy was a different kind of foe, a troubled young man with destructive intentions.

Scott couldn’t see the danger looming over the horizon. An English teacher, and his former girlfriend, had monopolized his attention.
