Dan Brown is a fiction thriller author from the United States of America. Born on June 22, 1964, as Daniel Gerhard Brown, he attained acclaim as a world-renowned author with his 2003 bestseller, ‘Da Vinci Code.’ Dan Brown was brought up in Exeter, in the state of New Hampshire. Brown was the eldest child in a family of three and attended the local Phillips Exeter Academy. He graduated in 1982. After this, he proceeded to Amherst College in Massachusetts where he graduated in 1986 with a degree in English and Spanish. In years following his college graduation, Brown tried his hand on a number of things including music.

He tried to establish himself as a musician as well as a songwriter and pianist with little success. He also had a go as a Spanish teacher at a local school, Beverly Hills Preparatory in Los Angeles, California. In Los Angeles, Brown met Blythe Newlon, an Artistic Director. With her help, Brown continued his endeavors in establishing himself as a musician but without substantial success. Dan Brown would later marry Blythe Newlon in 1997. He eventually relocated back to his home state of New Hampshire.

It was not until 1998 that Dan Brown published his first novel, ‘Digital Fortress,’ a thriller. He attributes his career in authorship as having been inspired by a Sidney Sheldon novel, ‘Doomsday Conspiracy.’ He read the book in 1994 while taking a holiday in Tahiti. His big break came in 2003 with his conspiracy thriller, ‘Da Vinci Code.’ The novel was not only a number one New York Times Bestseller but also one of the all-times best seller. The book would later be adapted for an equally high-grossing movie by the same name.

DAN BROWN AWARDS

Dan Brown’s great acumen as an outstanding author led to the Times Magazine listing him amongst the World’s 100 Most Influential People in 2005. In the very same year, the Forbes Magazine placed the author in the ‘Celebrity 100’ list.

Such honorific distinctions can rarely fail to be accompanied by a few literary awards as well. Of these, the writer has been nominated for various awards and has managed to scoop some of them. In 2004, the epic fiction thriller published the previous year, ‘Da Vinci Code’ was nominated for ‘Book Sense Book of the Year Award for Adult Fiction,’ which the book won.

In 2013, his mystic conspiracy fiction thriller, ‘Inferno,’ which had been published in the same year, was nominated for the ‘Goodreads Choice Awards Best Mystery & Thriller.’ The book won the award. In 2015, the same novel was awarded the ‘Golden Book Prize.’ The Hungarian literature fans usually, choose the winner of the prize.

DAN BROWN BOOKS INTO MOVIES

There has been an adaptation of some of his works into movies. Perhaps the most famous of his works that as eventually turned into a film is his novel ‘Da Vinci Code,’ which was adapted into a movie by the same name in 2006 by Columbia Pictures.

In 2013, Sony Pictures conveyed their interest in adapting another of his novels, ‘The Lost Symbol,’ into a movie. However, in the same year, Sony had a change of mind and instead chose to adapt another of his books, ‘Inferno’ for a film due to be released in October 2016.

In 2009, Imagine Entertainment released Angels & Demons, which was a film based on a novel by Dan Brown going by the same name.

His 1998 novel, ‘Digital Fortress’ is set to have a series based on it produced by Imagine Entertainment.

BEST DAN BROWN BOOKS

By far, ‘The Da Vinci Code’ and ‘Inferno’ can be argued to be his best books. Broadly, the books authored by Dan Brown can be categorized into two. The first category is the stand-alone novels. These stand-alone novels include ‘Digital Fortress’ released in 1998 and ‘Deception Point’ which was published in 2001.

The other category is made up of books that make a series. These books make the ‘Robert Langdon series’ and include Angels & Demons’ published in 2000, ‘Da Vinci Code’ which was released in 2003, ‘The Lost Symbol’ published 2009, ‘Inferno’ published in the year 2013 and ‘Origin’ which is set to be published in 2017.

Not only was ‘Da Vinci Code’ a bestseller, but its adaptation into a movie was also highly successful. It grossed more than $750 million at the Box Office. Equally successful both as a book and its film variant is the 2013 book, ‘Inferno.’ Both books have won awards as well, thus by far making them his best works.
