Carl Weber is an American author that writes urban fiction. Born in 1964, he runs a publishing company called ‘Urban Books.’ Weber has described the writers under his publishing house as his family.

As the literary father, he offers guidance where necessary. But for the most part, the individual artists are free to take their projects in any direction they see fit. Weber attended Virginia State University (B.S.) and the University of Virginia (MBA).

Before writing books, the author sold them. He was teaching business at Riker’s Island when he conceived the idea for his bookstore (Urban Knowledge). Weber asked his students to make a business plan for a bookshop.

The assignment inspired him to start a mail-order African American bookstore. Even though the business expanded into a chain of bookstores, Weber sold his interest in the company when his publishing career took off.

Like many of his peers, Weber was a voracious reader. Along the way, he developed an interest in writing. The author saw the books on the market and realized he could do better. He thrived because his ego could withstand criticism.

The author realized early on that his grasp of the English language wasn’t necessarily the best. But he did not mind working with other people to polish his work. His first novel (Lookin’ for Luv) was well received, with critics using terms like ‘Obnoxiously funny’ to describe the book.

It set the author on the path to becoming the so-called ‘Literary Prince of Drama,’ a title Weber wears with pride. He knows that his books are saturated with drama. But from his point of view, the stories he writes are realistic.

Weber writes about ordinary people navigating the crazy things they unexpectedly encounter. Readers keep flocking to his bibliography because they can relate to his characters.

The author doesn’t write for a specific demographic. Although, he concedes that most of his audience is middle class.
