Jeaniene Frost is an American author who writes Paranormal romance. She fell in love with reading at the age of twelve. Eventually, that passion ignited her interest in writing. Unfortunately, she quickly realized that wanting to write a book was much easier than actually sitting down and doing it.

Surprisingly, the ‘Night Huntress’ books came from a dream. The author has other inspirations, ranging from people and places to the conversations she overhears and events she witnesses. However, the author’s dreams play a pivotal role in her career because they are incredibly vivid.

When she was young, Jeaniene would record her dreams in a journal before turning them into short stories. But they all went unfinished. Her big break came when she turned thirty and realized she hadn’t taken any tangible steps to achieve her goals.

Around that time, she had a dream in which a half-vampire woman argued with a male vampire as she attempted to explain why she left him. Jeaniene knew the male vampire had searched for the woman for a long time, but their relationship could not work for some reason.

By trying to figure out who the characters were and why their romance failed, the author gradually fashioned the plot that became ‘Halfway to the Grave.’ When she published the manuscript, Jeaniene had no idea that ‘Halfway to the Grave’ was merely the first in a long-running series.

She never expected Cat and Bones to garner so much interest from readers, many of whom continuously demanded more stories about the pair. She compares their enthusiasm to a giant hug.

The excitement the books elicit is gratifying and humbling. Although, the author doesn’t downplay the stress associated with her work. Jeaniene doesn’t have enough hours in the day to answer every email, publish new posts on her blogs, talk to her readers in fan forums, read manuscripts from aspiring writers, etc.

That doesn’t even account for her duties as a wife. Something always gets neglected. If she’s unlucky, the beta-reading and blogging will fall by the wayside. If she’s genuinely pressed for time, her husband may also suffer.

Jeaniene wishes she had enjoyed the ride more when she first dipped her toes into publishing. Back then, she was too busy worrying about her agent’s reaction to her manuscript and wondering whether the editors would reject her story.

If she could repeat those days, the author would enjoy the experience of writing and publishing her first book as opposed to concerning herself with what came next.

Interestingly, Jeaniene doesn’t read quite as many paranormal romance novels as her readers expect. After all, she spends her days writing stories in the genre. During her free time, the author prefers to experiment with thrillers, romance, and fantasy.
