Best Brad Meltzer Books:
Three of the most significant works by Brad Meltzer are:
Heroes for my Son: This marked Meltzer’s first foray into non-fiction literature and debuted at number 2 on the New York Times bestsellers list. The concept behind the book is that since the birth of his son in 2003, Meltzer has collected a series of short stories and vignettes from heroes that he hopes will serve as inspirational and helpful guidance when growing up. This book is the first of two (the second being “Heroes For My Daughter”), and contains 52 short stories about the lives of various famous people ranging from Jim Henson and Dr Seuss to Rosa Parks and Mother Theresa. It follows the Wright brothers, as they meticulously planned their flights by bringing extra materials for each flight and preparing for every eventuality, and Miep Gies who risked her life during the Second World War to protect Anne Frank from the Nazis. By bringing together this group of stories, Meltzer curated a great collection of role models that every child would do well to look up to.
The President’s Shadow: Meltzer’s particular area of interest for writing is the Presidential structures of the United States and this, the third and most recent novel in his Culper Ring Series, easily reached number 1 on the New York Times’ bestsellers list upon release and was a finalist in 2016’s Audies awards. Continuing the mysterious government themes of the previous two, it opens with a severed arm being found buried within the grounds of the White House and quickly becomes an adventure into the world of the Culper Ring; a 200 year old society that is ultimately responsible for protecting the Presidency. Fears abound when the arm is discovered, raising questions about how it got there, the significance of the way in which it was buried and the realization that the arm had not been left there for the attention of the President, but for Beecher White- a young staffer that works in the National Archives. Beecher soon becomes embroiled in events and must take quick and decisive action to save the President, and himself.
The Book Of Fate: Having reached number 1 on the New York Times bestsellers list, The Book Of Fate focuses on a mysterious code that it turns out was created 200 years ago by Thomas Jefferson. By deducing the secrets hidden within this code and combining them with those hidden within a decade old presidential crossword puzzle, a young presidential aide named Wes Holloway (and the survivor of an attack on the President 8 years previously) unearths a modern day conspiracy that reaches the height of the government and the elite of Palm Beach society. This book has it all- presidential assassination attempts, secret societies, and codes hidden in Masonic symbols that are within the architecture of Washington D.C itself. As Holloway discovers the truth he must decide who to trust, and who can help him stop the devastating events that are in motion.
When Does The Next Brad Meltzer book come out?
