James W. Huston was one of the most outstanding authors in the United States, whose focus was on politics, mystery and thriller books as well. Huston is widely known for penning down military and legal thriller novels. Before he became a full-time writer, James W. Huston served in the United States Navy. After serving in the United States, Huston began to practice law, a profession that he continued with before meeting his sudden death. Furthermore, Huston used to pen down editorials in one of the local newspapers. It was during this period that he decided to try fiction. Publishers turned down his first two attempts. Huston became a published author in the year 1998, after his first novel, Balance of Power. Another highly successful book followed Balance of Power in the year 1999. Both of these books featured the protagonist Jim Dillon, a character that James W. Huston created on his own. The success of these books played a key role in putting James W. Huston books on the right track. James W. Huston was born in the year 1953, in the region of West Lafayette. Huston was brought in West Lafayette, while his father served taught history at Purdue University. His father used to pen down military and diplomatic books as well. In the year 2009, Huston’s father was awarded France’s highest civilian award. In the year 1971, Huston completed his high school education and went on to join South Carolina University on a ROTC scholarship.

Huston has started that his last years of the naval program were exceedingly tiresome, because of the ongoing Vietnam War. A majority of the anti-war protests used to occur within the campus. James W. Huston eventually graduated from Topgun before going ahead to serve as a naval officer. He also worked with the naval intelligence, before he eventually joined Warwick University where he studied Reformation history and English Literature. In the year 1975, Huston was awarded a Bachelor’s degree in History and a minor in English from USC. Huston retired from the Navy in the year 1981, so that he could study law at the renowned Virginia University. Huston was awarded a degree in Law in the year 1984, before shifting to California where he joined a law firm by the name of Gary Cary Ames in San Diego.

After working in the law firm for some years, Huston was eventually transferred to the Reserves of National Intelligence. Huston was mainly engaged in the monitoring of intelligence reports and the briefing of personnel. James W. Huston retired eventually in the year 1997 while serving as a commander. From the year 1990, James W. Huston worked as a partner, in a Law firm. During this period, he worked as a leader of the tort liability product and product group.

The first book in the Jim Dillon series is Balance of Power, which was published in the year 1998 by William Morrow publication. In Balance of Power, the author introduces the readers to Admiral Ray Billings, Jim Dillon, and Molly Vaughn, who are the main characters. At the beginning of the story, the author introduces Jim Dillon as a Special Assistant to the House of the Speaker. Dillon eventually comes across a forgotten clause in the constitution, which gave the Congress to take over the military powers without presidential approval. Jim Dillon’s boss decides to make use of this clause so as to humiliate his opponent who was in power.

As this happens, Molly Vaughn, Jim Dillon’s friend is looking for ways that he can use to block the speaker’s strategy.

The Price of Power: The second book in the Jim Dillon book series is The Price of Power. Just like the first book in the Jim Dillon book series, William Morrow Publishers published it. The Price of Power features the same main character that we met in the first book. This installment was well received, and it received mainly positive reviews from various literary magazines.
