L. A. Witt is a self-published author that writes romance. Witt writes M/M romance under the ‘L.A. Witt’ name and M/F romance as Lauren Gallagher. Witt worked in customer service for several years. She worked with various companies, including a number of jewelry stores and a compressed gas equipment manufacturer.

She tried to operate a photography business but it wasn’t successful. The author imputes her decision to write fiction to her husband’s job. When the military sent him to Okinawa, Witt followed. At the time, she couldn’t find civilian jobs, so she decided to make a serious effort to follow her writing and publishing dreams.

The gamble paid off. Witt started churning out multiple novels a year, making a name for herself among M/M and M/F romance readers. The author, who once worked for a porn company as an editor, fascinates people because her novels feature quite a bit of action.

That includes some of the romance novels she has written. Witt uses the action to inject tension into her stories. It allows her to create complications that her characters have to overcome. But the action scenes require a lot of planning on the author’s part, and so do the suspenseful moments.

Witt spends a lot of time tracking the movements and intentions of the characters driving her plot. Interestingly, even though many of her books utilize car chases, Witt has admitted that she hates writing them, primarily because they are so difficult.

However, she also finds sex scenes difficult. This is despite the fact that she is known primarily for the sensuality that permeates her work. Witt enjoys writing stories with sexual elements. But she is hesitant to rely on them.

In fact, readers that only know the author for her romance novels might be surprised to learn that she has written several novels that do not feature any steamy scenes. But that is only because Witt has a vivid imagination. While she has garnered great success from the romance genre, her mind is always throwing out new ideas set in other fields, which is why her bibliography includes science fiction and even fantasy novels.

Witt is not afraid to experiment with new genres. She likes the idea of occasionally shifting gears and telling a different kind of story, especially during periods where she feels like she needs to take a break from the romance genre.

When her career first started, Witt would write one book at a time. But she reached a point where she had too many ideas running through her mind. She realized that she had to get as many of the stories in her head on paper as quickly as possible before all the voices of the new characters fighting to break free drove her insane.

This is why she keeps dipping her toes into so many genres at the same time. If Witt was to point to one genre she has no interest in tackling, it would be Regency. She doesn’t hate the genre. It just doesn’t appeal to her. She was also hesitant to try her hand at inspirational stories. But she changed her mind.
