BEST SHARI LAPENA BOOKS

For those readers looking to get into works by Shari Lapena, this section will help with that. It will go over the novels “Things Go Flying”, “The Couple Next Door”, and “A Stranger in the House”.

Things Go Flying: This is the first stand alone novel and was released in the year 2007. Harold Walker is only average as well as sluggish at the middle of his life. This is due, partly, to losing a good friend of his named Tom. Audrey (who is a control freak, as well as, Harold’s frustrated housewife and mother of their pair of sons) silently hangs on to a huge secret.

Certain things start flying around the Walker house when Harold’s own mother, who has been dead many years haunts them. He realizes that he has the gift she had for opening up the door back into the past and if there were ever a gift that he would want to return, here it is. Audrey is scared, as she does not know how to keep her own secret now.

If she is unable to control the world she is in now, then how can she control the one that she will be going to? How on earth will she keep her good china safe? Harold has to confront two of his problems, which is tough because he likes to avoid things. One: be ok that life could go on forever, and two: find some meaning in his own life.

The Couple Next Door: This is the third stand alone novel and was released in the year 2016. Marco and Anne Conti appear to have just about everything there is. A great home, Cora (a gorgeous baby), and a relationship that is loving. One night, they go to a dinner party at a neighbor’s house, and there is a horrible crime committed. The prime suspect is the parents. The truth of the matter is far more complex than that though.

An account is told in the curtained house, and it is quite unsettling. Detective Rasbach realizes that this panicked couple is not telling him something. Marco and Anne quickly find out the other one is hiding secrets, which they have held close to them for many years now. What comes next is a family’s unraveling, something that is nerve wracking.

A Stranger in the House: This is the fourth stand alone novel and was released in the year 2017. Both Tom and Karen Krupp are happy as they have a wonderful home in upstate New York, no kids to interrupt their life with each other, and they are pretty much newlyweds. Tom comes home and Karen is just gone; her car is not there and it looks like she took off in a hurry. She did not take her purse, it has her identification and phone in it still. A knock on the door is the cops ready to take Tom off to the hospital, as that is where Karen has been admitted. She was in a car wreck, and lost all control of the car while speeding through the
town’s worst part.

Karen has a concussion and some scrapes after the crash. She is pretty much okay, but is unable to remember where she was or what she was doing. The police officers believe this memory loss is pretty convenient, they also think that she could have been up to nothing good. She goes back home with her husband, to move on with her own life and heal. She notices that something has been moved, and there is something not just right. These are signs that someone has been in her home and the cops do not quit asking her questions. All the people in the house, everybody is a stranger, and has something that they would like to keep to themselves. They might even want to kill to keep it quiet.

  1. I just finished reading Someone We Know. It was an awesome read. Will there be a follow up with Robert Pierce?
