Stephanie Bond is an American author that writes cozy mystery and romance novels. Born in 1965, she spent her childhood on a tobacco farm (Eastern Kentucky).

She gravitated towards novels because her entertainment options were severely limited. After developing an interest in romance and Gothic thrillers, Bond did not set her sights on a career in publishing.

Instead, she decided to become a librarian because the field would enable her to indulge her love for reading. She wanted to spend her days surrounded by books. Bond couldn’t think of a better career.

However, as she matured, her priorities shifted. The author went to college and discovered computer programming. She operated a retail store for a while during her college years.

But life after graduation pulled Bond into the world of business and computers. She secured a job as a systems engineer in a Lexington, Kentucky, Fortune 50 firm.

Bond won’t lie. She enjoyed her work. She doesn’t regret the years she spent in the corporate arena. In fact, her foray into publishing was completely unexpected.

She was back in school, pursuing her MBA, when a teacher noticed her talent for writing. The instructor did not necessarily encourage the author to write fiction. He wanted Bond to publish her thesis.

But the author was too busy processing the realization she had just made. The thought came out of nowhere. She couldn’t stop thinking about the possibility of writing a romance novel and whether she had the skill to execute such a challenging undertaking.

Once she finished her classes, Bond started dedicating her evenings to writing. She began by experimenting with simple ideas, stories she had written for her own enjoyment.

When her company sent her to Atlanta, Georgia, she decided to hone her craft by reading how-to books and joining a writing organization.

Bond knew she was serious about her publishing dreams because she was using every opportunity she got to put her ideas on paper. Unfortunately, the publishing arena was not receptive to her.

They rejected every manuscript she submitted for the next two years. As such, she was pretty relieved when Harlequin Enterprises bought ‘Irresistible?’ She used that momentum to write and submit more novels, selling so many manuscripts in the process that she finally decided to become a full-time writer.

Bond spent the next few years writing mystery and romance novels for traditional publishers before finally breaking away in 2011 to become a self-published writer.

Bond is still running her self-publishing venture. She has also continued to write new stories.
