T. Davis Bunn is an American author that writes thrillers, historical and inspirational fiction. Born in 1952 in North Carolina, he attended Wake Forest University (Psychology and Economics) and Gresham College (International Finance and Economics).

Bunn was an avid traveler. He was twenty years old when he flew to Europe. In the years that followed, he plied his trade in over forty countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

The author was living in Germany when he discovered his Christian faith. Two weeks later, he started writing. It took him nine long years to find a willing publisher. By that point, Bunn had written seven books.

He believes that writing is a calling, one that is intimately intertwined with his faith. However, Bunn doesn’t believe in using his books to preach the Christian message overtly.

In the years since he entered the publishing arena, the author has experimented with fiction inside and outside the evangelical community. From what he has seen, non-Christians perceive overt messages of faith as an enemy that must be overcome.

Therefore, when they encounter faith-based values in books, they will simply discard them. Bunn’s goal is to create stories that are so compelling that non-believers will consume them greedily even when they disagree with his message.

He also believes that Christian authors should learn to embed Christian morals and messages into their stories covertly. The best way to do this is to give the hero a revelation that points them towards the conclusion the author wants the reader to reach.

Rather than crafting overtly Christian fiction, Bunn endeavors to tell stories that instill hope in his audience. He wants to reinvigorate readers, to show them that second chances are waiting around every corner.

It took him years to hone his craft. During the first nine years of his burgeoning career, the author traveled frequently. Bunn was still running his consulting operation, and he flew to several countries every week.

If the author had abandoned his publishing dreams, no one would have faulted him. He was too busy. The temptation to dedicate his life to a well-paying day job was overwhelming.

But Bunn was determined to write fiction for a living, which is why he started writing every day, without fail. He made writing his second job and found ways to pen his stories despite an incredibly hectic schedule.

He wrote in airports, hotel lobbies, taxis, wherever the opportunity arose. Rather than waiting for the creative bug to bite him, Bunn developed techniques that allowed him to disappear into his story regardless of his external circumstances. The author’s discipline produced full-length novels, screenplays, and TV pilots.
