The Doctor Proctor’s Fart Powder series of books centres on an 11-year-old boy named Nilly who moves to a new neighbourhood. After moving in, he soon makes friends with a mad professor named Doctor Proctor, who is constantly making crazy and cool inventions, as well as concoctions such as powders. As well as Doctor Proctor, Nilly makes friends with a smart girl named Lisa, who is often tormented by twins Truls and Tyrm.
In the first book in the Doctor Proctor’s Fart Powder series, Doctor Proctor’s Fart Powder, Nilly and Lisa help Doctor Proctor create a powder that helps whoever take it fart. When the kids start selling begs of the powder at school, they become incredibly popular with their peers almost overnight. However, Doctor Proctor is now happy with his initial invention, and he eventually makes a super-strength version of his fart powder, which can send whoever ingests it into space. Because of its power, Nilly and Lisa’s neighbours want to get their hands on it for evil, so it is down to our heroes to stop this super-powder getting into the wrong hands. Doctor Proctor’s Fart Powder was published in 2009.
The second book in the Doctor Proctor’s Fart Powder series of books is Bubble in the Bathtub, and after the great success our three heroes had with the amazing fart powder, they needed to come up with their next great invention. But what could that invention be? Only a time-travelling bathtub! All you need to do is get into the tub, lather yourself with the Time Soap, and then just makes a wish for where you want to go. Doctor Proctor decides to use the invention to go back in time to win back his one true love. However, things do not go according to plan, and it is down to Nilly and Lisa to save the day by going back in time, rectifying all of the problems and also reuniting Doctor Proctor with his true love. In typical Doctor Proctor style, craziness then ensures! Bubble in the Bathtub was published in 2011.
The third book in the Doctor Proctor’s Fart Powder series of books is called Who Cut the Cheese, which was published in 2012. This was then followed by The Great Gold Robbery, which was published in 2013.
In his early life, Jo Nesbo was a promising footballer playing for Norway’s top tier premier league team Molde. Unfortunately, his career as a footballer was cut short at the age of eighteen when he tore his knee ligaments. He later attended a three-year military service after which he joined Norwegian School of Economics to pursue a degree in Economics and Business Administration. While in college, Nesbo formed a music band Di derre, which translates to Them There. The band’s second album became a hit topping charts in Norway. Despite that success, Jo Nesbo continued to work as a financial analyst during the day and gigging at night.
Before he began writing, Nesbo was a musician, freelance journalist, and a stockbroker. That said Nesbo writing career began when he was commissioned by a publisher to write about life on the road with the Di derre band. Instead of a memoir, Nesbo came up with the plot for his highly successful crime-themed novel Harry Hole, The Bat. Today, Nesbo is the most successful Norwegian author with over 3 million copies of his novels being sold in Norway and over 23 million copies worldwide. His novels have been translated into over 50 languages.
