Beauty and the Black Sheep: A decade ago, Frankie’s parents perished in a boating accident forcing her to take care of her younger sister and brother and take care for Grand-Em suffering from Dementia. To help her family pay the bills and cater for other necessities, Frankie turned the family mansion into a Bed and breakfast restaurant. Unfortunately lacking enough funds to keep the walls from crumbling down on them, her chef quit and Frankie, having reached her end of endurance and exhausted that the business does not pick up, she will soon have to sell it.
But as fate would have it, Chef Nate Walker car Lucille breaks down on his way home leaving him stranded on the side of the road. In his search for a phone booth, so that he can continue with his journey to New York, Nate unknowingly finds himself in Frankie’s kitchen, and before even she can say, “ no soup for you sir,” he is saved for the night.
The attraction between Frankie and Nate is instantaneous, but Frankie is not going to be taken in quickly by Nate’s gold-flecked eyes or his masculine, athletic body easily for she has been “burned” once too many times. Fortunately, that is a good thing also because, according to Nate, Frankie needs to dial down her attitude even though he cannot help but wonder what lies beneath those glasses and the baggy clothes or how she would look if she smiled at him.
Maybe he will have to postpone acquiring that restaurant in New York for the summer and help his new friend, Frankie get back to her feet before he departs. Or what’s the worst that could happen? It’s not like he will fall for her or anything of that sort. It’s not like he will be forced to mow her lawn wearing nothing but a pair of cut off with sweat trickling down his muscled chest.
The debut novel is a brilliant read, for Frankie, White Caps is more than just a Bed & Breakfast; it is her childhood home, a place where her family has lived for six generations. Even though it’s falling into pieces, Frankie will do anything to keep her family legacy going.
From the First: All that Alex could see was Cassandra’s long thick copper-colored hair, her pale and smooth skin, her naturally tinted pink lips and eyes green as seagrass.
He paused himself, his good friend might be dead, but in his mind, Cassandra was still the man’s wife. Cassandra, the woman that Alex had longed for from the first moment they met, six years ago. The woman who would be married to his best friend- a friend he had lost in the sea, the woman who was rebuilding his family bed and breakfast who just might be in the process of restoring his broken heart. Will Alex finally mend his heart and make a move for the woman he his heart has always yearned for?
