The books are written by Raymond Khoury who was a successful screenwriter before getting into writing this series. He started out working at a small architecture firm in London before going back to school and earning his MBA from European Institute of Business Administration. He returned to London to work at an investment banking firm. A chance encounter with another investment banker who wrote screenplays on the side would end up changing everything for him.

His first screenplay was a finalist for the Fulbright Fellowship in Screenwriting while his second was on the shortlist of finalists for the same award. In 1996, things really took off when he optioned the Melvyn Bragg novel, The Maid of Buttermere and adapted the screenplay which was then snapped up by Robert DeNiro. Khoury would go on to write on some hit BBC shows including Waking the Dead and Spooks, the latter being also known as MI:5.

Khoury would write The Last Templar as a screenplay, but friends encouraged him to adapt it into a novel. A friend submitted the screenplay to a publisher who offered him a six-figure deal, if he removed all religious references in the book. He declined that offer, but began doing research and working on the novel adaptation of his screenplay. The rest, as they say, is history and a great book series. The book was an immediate hit, spending 11 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. The book has been translated into 38 languages in more than 40 countries with five books in the series thus far.

BEST SEAN REILLY & TESS CHAYKIN BOOKS:

These are two best books in Templar series by Raymond Khoury, The Last Templar (2006) and The End Game (2014).

The Last Templar: The first book in Templar series is set during AD 1291 after the fall of Acre. A small group of Knights Templar leaves the city, but their ship encounters storms in the deep waters, gets damaged and sinks. One of the knights is severely wounded during the event and dies upon reaching the land and after hiding a small pouch on a gravestone. He commands the surviving members of the ship’s crew deliver an encrypted letter to the Head of the Templars.

The remaining Knight arrives in Paris in 1314, just in time to witness the Grand Master being burned after denying giving information about the whereabouts of the Templars treasure. The last Knight dedicates himself into maintaining the legend of the Templar’s threat to the Catholic Church.

The Last Templar is an enthralling and an excellent read. Khoury is a master at creating characters and plot twists that keep the readers engaged. He has offered the readers a masterpiece historical fiction surrounding the mystery of final days of the Knights Templar and the resting place of the Holy Grail.

The End Game: Distinguished scientist Doctor Ralph is slow withering- and he knows that this is the right time to reveal the truth finally. For years he has kept a dark secret, so dark such that if let out, it would result in deadly consequences. Despite this, there are powerful and villainous men who are after him and will stop at nothing to silence him.
