Wicked Game: Two decades ago, Jessie Brentwood disappeared without a trace from St. Elizabeth high school. Many of her closest friends believed that Jessie had run away, but only a few suspected that she was hiding a dangerous secret, one that had brought her to the crosshairs of a lethal killer.
Twenty years pass before a body is discovered on school grounds and Jessie’s best friends reunite to talk. Many people believe that the body is Jessie’s and the mystery that happened two decades ago had finally been solved.
However, Jessie’s friends soon begin to die in horrible, and some mysterious accidents beyond anyone’s explanation. Then there is Becca Suttcliff who for years has been haunted by unsettling visions of Jessie, and she is certain that her good friend met a grisly end. Now that the latest killings have come as a surprise to her and she soon starts to suspect that there is an evil force haunting her and only waiting for the best moment to attack.
She feels as if she is going crazy and in the midst of the uproar could Jessie’s killer have finally come back to finish what she started a few years ago?
The first novel in the series is an interesting read, what’s more, fascinating about the book is the dynamic of the group of friends in general. The girls who were best friends to Jessica years back in high school now seem to be kind of wishy-washy while some classmates don’t want the whole story about Jessie’s death brought up again while others seem to enjoy in it and hope that the entire ordeal is brought out again.
On the sidelines quietly watching all this happen is agent McNally who was involved in the investigation of the disappearance of Jessie and now is investigating this newest discovery. Then there is Becca, a close friend of Jessie’s who is gifted with second sight. She receives premonitions about any event before they happen.
Wicked Lies: Wicked Lies is the second book in Wicked series by Lisa Jackson. For two years now, Justice has paced his room at Valley Security Hospital planning an escape.
Justice has only one mission in mind- one that started with a brutal murder twenty years ago. And then there are others who must be sent back to the hell that once spawned them.
Then there is Laura Adderley did not plan to have a child with her soon to be ex-husband though she will do anything in her power to protect her baby. But now Harrison Frost, a reporter is asking questions about a strange group of women who reside at Siren Song lodge. Harrison has yet figured out how Laura is connected to the whole ordeal, but Justice knows the truth, and he is coming.
On the other hand, Laura has been able to foresee an approaching evil. But that is not going to stop the psychopath determined to destroy her. Justice has been unleashed, and this time around there will be no safe place to seek refuge.
The second book in the series is an absolute page-turner. The characters in the book are neatly presented, intriguing, some likable while you’ll find hating others. The way the author wrote this villain in this book is so fantastic, and you will, on the one hand, love him because he makes the book so exciting while, on the other hand, you will hate him because he is so sinister.
In other words, he is the kind of guy you would want to read about but never want to meet in person ever. Imagine spending your whole life with this random vicious guy who wants to come and kill you? A man who wants you dead, what would you possibly do to make sure that you survive the psychopath hunting spree?
